Cub Scout Pack 1 Over 80 years of Fun & learning

Cub Scout Pack 1 is chartered by the Boy Scouts of America and sponsored by Christ Church Short Hills.   Pack 1 has been providing fun, learning and outdoor adventure to the youth of Short Hills and Millburn for over 80 years!

Pack 1 has a "Pack Meeting" once a month for all of its members.  A parent should accompany each Scout although some parents rely on the parent of another Scout to accompany their child occasionally if the parent has a conflict with another child or activity.  Siblings are welcome to attend the Pack meetings.

Cub Scouts are divided into "Dens" that are smaller groups of Scouts in the same grade.  Parent volunteers serve as Den Leaders and the dens meet on a schedule decided by the den parents and leaders to accomplish advancement requirements and other fun activities better suited to smaller groups.

Pack 1 normally has 3 camping trips each year.   Each camping trip is designed to be a day trip within a reasonable distance from home with an option to stay overnight.  Fall camping is usually in October.  In February or March the Pack either goes to a YMCA camp for a weekend, staying in a large heated cabin with activities and meals provided by the camp, or a sleep in at a museum or other location.   Last year the Pack had a large group attend an overnight at the Liberty Science Center.  In the past they have camped at YMCA Camp Bernie and attended a sleepover at the Philadelphia Zoo.

Membership is open to boys and girls in grades 1 - 5.    Generally the Pack 1 Scouts attend the elementary schools in Short Hills, but membership is open to children who attend any school.  Even though the Cub Scout pack is sponsored by Christ Church Short Hills, members may be of any religious affiliation.  We have a very diverse group of Scouts in Pack 1.
